Meet the cats

re-homing is a chance for a new beginning!

These cats are all amazing. Why? Because they’re still here! Survivors. So alive in the moment and so grateful for every kindness.

If you see a cat you like and have questions, want more information, or want my (Lee) take on whether the cat might be a good match for you, let me know. No pressure. And if you’re interested in re-homing, contact me to see if the cat is still available and, if so, to fill out a rehoming application.

AVIE

Hi! I’m AVIE AVIE is short for Aventura because I’m on the adventure of my life! I’m a cute gal, despite the tear stain near by eye & my sometimes drippy eye/tears (no tear duct-purely cosmetic- per the vet). I’m active, curious, playful. Friendly with family. Timid at first with unknown people so I might hide under blankies or behind things until I feel safe. I’ll circle your legs to say hello or please pay attention to me. I’m talkative. Purr. Maybe hiss or growl if all of a sudden a cat or unknown human comes too close, too soon, too fast. I’m not so great with most other cats. That said, I really miss my cousin who I used to snuggle up with. Now, at bedtime or afternoon nap, I paw the blanket & nudge Lee to snuggle under the covers. I can be affectionate and jump up on your lap to hang out, be pet. Sometimes I let Lee carry me around like a human baby. I like to be outside at times and explore. So, I’m a great escape artist, nudging doors open. If I hear “NO!”, I usually stop trying to get out. But it’s such great fun out in the sun! I’m spayed. Micro-chipped. Rabies vaccinated. Best: A one-animal (unless mellow, not aggressive/territorial/alpha) quiet household.

BOOTS

Hi! I’m BOOTS I was the favorite cat of my now-deceased human. He loved to have me hang out with him in his garden or on the passenger seat of his car. When he died and the adult kid inheriting the house didn’t care, I had to be a scrappy opportunist to try to survive. When I got injured, ow! Lee took me in and adopted me so I could safely rehabilitate in a protected space. I’m pretty much back now! I run around & play & can quicken my pace if necessary or come when Lee calls out “Boots….Bootsie.” I can cautiously jump up maybe five-ish feet without hurting myself. Because my backside is still sensitive, I don’t like to be picked up (very gently okay). And I might soft-bite & tell you “Ouch” if you’re touching me too fast or hard. I’m happy to be mostly inside with short outside forays (or a screened in porch to watch the outside world). I know what “No” means when I try to get out (sometimes I listen). Your home with a cat-door would be incredible! I’m calm and friendly and want to be near, around my human(s). I’m first in line to kiss your nose/face, purr & knead you/the bed covers as I snuggle in with you at bedtime or for a nap. Like to pounce on fake mousies. I love snoozing in the sun on a chair or on the porch. I’m neutered. Micro-chipped. Rabies vaccinated. Best: A one-animal (unless mellow, not alpha, territorial, aggressive) quiet household.

BUDDY

Hi! I’m BUDDY Lee named me “Buddy” because from the beginning when she took me in, even though I was so afraid, wet, cold and hungry, I still acted like I want to be the best buddy ever. Still do. Fully present in the moment. Calm. Gentle. Mellow. And quite the handsome fellow if I do say so myself….. I like to chase little fake mousies. And I really like to relax (a great role model for my busy humans -hint….hint….). I love my favorite spaces-the blankie on the bed or the soft pillow on the chair. And I like to be outside sometimes if it’s safe & not extreme weather (I paw at the screen door if I’m out too long). I’m good with the other cats here & they are good with me. Except for one cat. The first time he pestered me, I stayed calm & then moved away. The second time, I tried three small swats. He leaves me alone now. Neutered. Rabies vaccinated. BEST: A quiet household. Probably fine with non-aggressive/territorial/alpha cat(s), gentle dog. Not good with large, aggressive dogs; sudden/loud noises; speeding cars.

CINDER

Hi! I’m CINDER Because my human (Lee's neighbor) died before socializing me when I was a kitten, I’m somewhere between a very independent outside cat and a working cat! Like most Siamese, I love to climb (fences, shelves, perches, trees) and observe from a distance what’s going on. I also like to hide behind things or maybe under a porch to protect myself. I chase after bugs and there are no rodents here anymore, thanks to me and my buddies. I think I could be okay around gentle dogs who don’t chase me and see me as prey. Or chickens who don’t rush and peck at me. Or other cats who aren’t bullies or greedy with the food (I’m not an alpha cat so lots of times I don’t get to eat if there are other cats who scarf the food up first). Speaking of other cats, I'm Mr. Friendly. I happily run to say hello and often then lay on my back, hoping to be played with. I show my face (not just for the food) and sometimes call back to Lee when she calls out my name. I don’t run away most times when she slowly comes close to pet me around the side of my face and under my chin. But if she touches me too much, too fast, too soon, I might protest by squeaking, soft-biting her, or runnning away. Lately, I’ve been staying in the garage at night (I know how to use the litter box so no problem). The dry warmth from the elements & the safety protecting me from predators – thank you! Neutered. Rabies vaccinated. BEST: I'm a friendly cat, so I need someone to play with and so we can protect each other. I like Gabe and Fluffy! You offer me an independent outside life with appropriate care, safety and shelter. In some proximity and connection with you (so not thrown out and invisible in the back 40). Spaces both above (to climb up, perch on) and below (to hide under/behind). A structure for safety and out of the elements (shed, elevated large dog igloo (I use this), garage, barn, stable, warehouse, tack/feed room).

FLUFFY

Hi! I’m FLUFFY…. Lee takes care of me and Gabe since our human (her neighbor) died. I like to roam around to check out what’s going on and snooze in the sun. I like to be pet sometimes under my chin. Neutered. Rabies vaccinated. BEST: Need at least one other cat so we protect each other. I like Gabe. Maybe your non-aggressive, non-territorial, non-alpha cat(s)? You offer me an independent outside life with appropriate care, safety and shelter in some proximity and connection with you (so not thrown out and invisible in the back 40). Spaces both above (to climb up, perch on) and below (to hide under/behind). A structure (shed, garage, barn, stable, warehouse, tack/feed room) for safety and out of the elements.

GABE

Hi! I’m GABE Gabe is short for Gabby because I’m a talker. Lee takes care of me and Fluffy since our human (her neighbor) died. I like to climb up on the fence and see what’s going on. I watch out for and discourage cats and other animals who don’t belong here. Pet me once in a while and hear me thank you…. Neutered. Rabies vaccinated. BEST: Need at least one other cat so we can protect each other. I like Cinder & Fluffy. Your current non-aggressive, non-territorial, non-alpha cat(s)? You offer me an independent outside life with appropriate care, safety and shelter in some proximity and connection with you (so not thrown out and invisible in the back 40). Spaces both above (to climb up, perch on) and below (to hide under/behind). A structure (shed, garage, barn, stable, warehouse, tack/feed room) for safety and out of the elements.
