How to Rehome an Amazing Adult Cat

Why amazing? Because they're still here! Unlike many of their buddies who didn't make it, and despite all they've been through. Survivors of the loss of everything they know. Their humans. Their place to be. Their four-legged kin. Yet, still so alive in the moment and so grateful for every kindness.

STEP 1: Call 1.530.781.5714

Leave your name and contact number and the name of the cat you’re interested in.

You’ll hear back within two-three business days whether or not the cat is still available. If you don’t hear back by then, maybe a snafu. So, call again.

The phone is checked at least once daily most Mondays-Fridays during business hours.

STEP 2: Apply

We’ll tell you how to turn in your application.

Download, print and fill out the let’s go home, kitty application pdf (to the left).

Your application will be reviewed and we’ll get back with you as soon as possible.

NOTE: Your submitting an application does not guarantee your adoption of the cat.

STEP 3: Phone Interview

We’ll schedule a phone interview at a mutually convenient time to go over your application, respond to and ask any questions. Maybe a home visit.

STEP 4: Meet the Cat

If “YES!”, finish the remaining details (signing the adoption contract, planning when to bring the cat and supplies to you, etc.).

STEP 5: Transition Your Cat

To ease the move, your new cat will come with supplies such as several weeks of the food and litter he’s used to: treats, toys, and his “blankie”.

We can help you navigate the process to help ensure a successful placement and to navigate the pitfalls. Feel free to connect!

Why such a picky process?

Success as in the best possible outcomes for you and the cat is what we're after. It might seem like over-the-top, but each question and each step is there for a good reason. No need for another failed placement due to ignorance or short-sightedness.

We've learned from past experience that a potential adopter who doesn't care enough to take the time to think through the pre-adoption process is unlikely to then care enough to take the time needed to patiently orient and integrate the cat into your environment.
